NEW EFFORT BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO END
ANTI-SEMITISM ON CAMPUS
Please visit the new Web site launched by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights as part of its public campaign to end anti-Semitism on college campuses.
The Web site, at www.eusccr.com, is an important effort to educate students and others about anti-Semitism, to urge witnesses of anti-Semitism to report incidents, and to list sources of help for students.
In addition to the Commission's Web campaign, the campaign materials include a briefing report called Campus Anti-Semitism, which will provide you with useful information if you face anti-Semitism on your campus. The report can be accessed from the Commission's Web pages.
Also part of the campaign are a poster, postcard and e-mail message—all intended to raise awareness and direct public attention to the problem of anti-Semitism on our campuses. The poster and postcard can be downloaded and printed from the Commission's Web pages. The e-mail message will enable you to share this information with others.
We encourage you to download a copy of the poster and postcard and distribute it on your campuses. The message on each of them needs to be heard and understood: "Silence is an Ally of Hate. Speak Out Against Campus Anti-Semitism."
The ZOA has been a leader in the fight against anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment wherever it occurs, including on college campuses. In November 2005, the ZOA was on a panel of experts that furnished testimony to the Commission at a briefing on campus anti-Semitism. The testimony at the briefing eventually led to this public education campaign to end campus anti-Semitism.
For those of you have questions about the Commission's campaign, or for those who are facing anti-Semitism on their campuses, please contact us at (212) 481-1500 or info@zoa.org.
